 Hakim Archuletta, speaking to
the youth of a family retreat in California, bases this discussion
on the Prophet's last sermon and three topics within this message
that are extremely relevant to our situation today as Muslims
growing up in America: rights of women, equality of races, and
usury (riba). Brother Hakim
implores the audience to "wake up" to the realities
of our age: the alarming state of men and women in today's society,
the mechanisms that allow racism and injustice to exist, and
the economic injustice created by usury through debt. The Prophet's
last sermon over 1400 years ago actually refers to these issues
that are affecting our lives today. This session is simply a
starting point meant to motivate our young generation to wake
up, understand, and realize the dilemma we are in and to move
forward with the confidence and faith that Islam is the solution! |
