| The speaker begins by taking a brief look at the Greco-Roman and pre-Islamic Arab societies and their treatment of women and draws comparisons to the role of women in Western society today. With the dawn of Islam, the woman was granted nobility, respect, and rights in ways considered unimaginable at the time. In discussing these rights, the speaker looks at three examples of Muslim women in the Prophet's time: Sumaiyyah, Khadijah, and Um Sulam. He also covers a few responsibilities of the Muslim woman and looks at the issue of women in the home by analyzing Surah Al-Azhab of the Holy Qur'an. |
