A
panel session that discusses the concept of medicine from an
Islamic point of view. Hakim Archuletta begins by describing
Islam's "holistic" approach that takes into account
the body and the soul and the fact that the Muslim view of healing
is at polar opposites to the materialist's view of healing. Husain
Nagamia, chairman of the International Institute of Islamic Medicine,
conveys the Islamic principles left by the Prophet (P) in his
sunnah (or way) that if followed will lead to a healthy life.
Points such as cleanliness and eating habits are covered in this
section. Usman Siddiqi then concludes the panel by briefly emphasizing
the need to consider the social, spiritual, and physical ailments
of all human beings and that Muslims must be willing to help
in any way that is at their disposal. |

"The gift of Islam is that it is the gift of healing." -Hakim Archuletta "Many people in the medical establishment believe that if you had heart disease, that was it; you couldn't change the condition of your arteries... We as Muslims believe that Allah is the One that heals and we believe that anything is possible." -Hakim Archuletta "One of the most important things that Islam teaches us is moderation." -Husain Nagamia "Unless you address the spirit, the body... may not get well." -Husain Nagamia |
