The essence
of our test in this life is to bring taqwa (God-consciousness)
into our hearts, but doing so can be an immense struggle. Following
up his lecture "Diseases of the Heart", Mohamed El-Sayed
provides help to the Muslim engaged in this struggle by first
relating the experience of a scholar who learned from his sheikh
eight principles that can serve as lessons in the purification
process. Then he looks at one of the most common ways in which
diseases enter the heart and that's by succumbing to temptation.
And this part of the discussion inevitably focuses on one of
the biggest temptations, sexual desire. This profound session
is also full of useful information concerning despair, the importance
of knowledge, and recognizing the diseases, which combine to
result in a lecture that can provide hope to any believer striving
to remain on the straight path. |

"When you make a mistake [you should] cry. If you cannot cry, even sit down and try to make yourself feel bad about it, not sit down and watch T.V. and reward yourself for it." "We always try to control the outside, and the problem is inside. And that's what we have to work on." "Shaitan, whatever he does to you do not let him, at the end, win." |
